Sail KC, LLC is dedicated to enhancing boating safety and fun through boating education and training. We offer in-class and on the water training for basic through advanced levels of seamanship and boat handling with a specialization in sail training. As an American Sailing Association (ASA) affiliated school, we offer ASA certifications in Basic Cruising, Basic Keelboat, and Coastal Navigation.
On the water classes may be taught on your boat or ours. Customized classes are also available. We are also available for delivery of vessels and training of new owners. Please call to discuss.
Our school is based at Elm Hill Marina on J. Percy Priest Lake in Nashville, TN. Our primary training vessel is a Hunter 27 auxiliary sailing vessel.
Kent Crawford is our lead instructor. He has over 30 years of experience at the helm of both power and sailing vessels. Experience includes inland lakes and rivers, coastal areas of the Southern East Coast, Southern California, the Gulf Coast, the British Virgin Islands and the Bahamas. Kent holds a U.S.C.G. Captain’s License (OUPV near coastal) and is an ASA qualified instructor for Basic Keelboat, Basic Cruising, Bareboat Chartering, and Coastal Navigation. He is also an active member of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, currently serving as an instructor for Boating Skills & Seamanship, Seamanship, Weather, and a specially developed tutorial on navigation rules.
